Living Water Trips: Redesign Update

We’re excited to share a summary of the Living Water Trips redesign project!

In May, a project team comprised of staff members across the org, met to collaborate on the redesign of the pre- and post-trip experience to better prepare trip participants for a Living Water Trip (LWT) and encourage long-term partnership with LWI after returning from a LWT.

Since that design sprint in May, the project team has been working hard to refine and complete the prototypes we came up with during the sprint. With a June 30 deadline to implement changes, we worked quickly and efficiently on several key deliverables:

Revamped website: We overhauled just about every page of our www.water.cc/trips website, adding in a new “why go” page, focused on a healthy development mindset and setting expectations. We also updated the “I want to go” page with a new menu of trip activities and an updated interactive map. We also updated our cover photos to focus more on the overall work of Living Water and less on drilling.

New “What to Expect” video: We filmed a new video to help set expectations for before, during, and after the trip. This is on the website and will be emailed to every participant upon registration for a trip.

Pre- and post- trip communication series: We added in 2 new automatic pre-trip emails, including a “deeper dive” into Living Water, a welcome video from the staff, and a pre-trip reflection. We added 4 post-trip emails, including thank you videos from the field staff and engagement opportunities for participants to stay involved after their trip. These will be sent automatically through Salesforce!

5 Healthy Development Principles: We created 5 statements to help participants prepare their hearts and minds for the trip experience.

Team Leader Guide: We created a 9-page guide for trip team leaders to use as a resource while recruiting and leading their teams.

We are excited for teams to experience these new updates during the overall trip journey, starting with the booking process and continuing through the month after they return home.

We hope these changes will help better prepare participants to have healthy expectations prior to the trip and return home as lifelong champions for Living Water.

Having completed these time-sensitive items, our next priority is to launch the 2024 calendar this summer, but we will be continuing to develop additional ideas from the design sprint on an ongoing basis.
