In Aldea Ojo de Agua, Guatemala, the daily struggle for water was relentless. For years, the community depended on a distant river, walking for hours to gather what little water it offered. Eventually, they attempted to ease their burden by digging shallow wells closer to home, covering them with tarps and wooden boards to keep out contaminants.
