The residents of the Augusto C. Sandino #1 (Las Mercedes) community faced a dire water crisis with remarkable resilience; particularly the students and staff at the local school. Years ago, residents relied on a faulty water system that drained their hard-earned income. Searching for a sustainable solution, community leaders petitioned local authorities for a hand pump.
